Foam silicone has good insulation properties. After burning, the generated silica is still an insulating substance.

In addition, foam silicone is not easy to scorch during arc discharge, because its structure has a small number of carbon atoms, and its reinforcing filler white carbon black is suitable for high-voltage applications.

The surface of the foam silicone is hydrophobic, so the physical properties are reduced in a humid environment and the adhesion is poor, which can play a role in isolation.
